Ingredients

  • 12 lb Whole Turkey
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 2 tbsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 tsp Paprika
  • 2 tsp Dried Thyme
  • 2 tsp Dried Rosemary
  • 1 each Onion
  • 1 each Lemon
  • 6 each Garlic Cloves
  • 3 each Celery Stalks
  • 2 cup Chicken Broth

Directions

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the neck and giblets from the turkey and pat the turkey dry. Combine the softened butter, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, thyme, and rosemary. Rub the seasoned butter over the outside of the turkey and beneath the breast skin. Place the onion, lemon, garlic cloves, and celery inside the cavity. Arrange the turkey breast-side up on a rack in a roasting pan. Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the pan. Roast for 3 to 3 1/2 hours, basting with the pan juices every 45 minutes, until the thickest parts of the breast and thigh reach a safe internal temperature. Cover the breast loosely with foil if it browns too quickly. Transfer the turkey to a cutting board and rest for 30 minutes before carving.
